Day 01

Arrival - Negombo Coastal Start

Your Darash Lanka Tours driver meets you at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfers you to Negombo for a relaxed coastal first night – a gently paced introduction to Sri Lanka, close to the water and the particular easy energy of a port town at dusk.

Day 02

Into the Cultural Triangle - Sigiriya Region

The morning drive north through Sri Lanka’s coconut-lined interior roads delivers you to the Cultural Triangle – the ancient north-central plain that housed successive great kingdoms for over a millennium. An afternoon arrival in Sigiriya gives you time to settle and absorb the landscape before the Rock’s ascent tomorrow morning.

Day 03

Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Polonnaruwa Ancient City

A morning ascent of Sigiriya Rock Fortress – the 5th-century sky palace whose ancient water gardens, cliff-face frescoes, and summit panorama make it one of the most remarkable single sites in South Asia – followed by a guided afternoon in Polonnaruwa, where the medieval Sinhalese kingdom’s finest sculptures and architecture are still standing in extraordinary condition.

Day 04

Dambulla Cave Temples & Kandy - Cultural Capital

The Dambulla Cave Temple complex in the morning – five ancient painted caves whose 2,000 years of continuous Buddhist art rewards real time and genuine attention – before the drive to Kandy for a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and a lakeside evening in Sri Lanka’s most culturally resonant highland city.

Day 05

Tea Country Drive & Nuwara Eliya Highlands

The winding highland road from Kandy through Sri Lanka’s tea estate landscape is one of the most beautiful drives in the country – green, cool, and endlessly varied. A working tea estate visit and a proper Ceylon tea tasting introduce the industry that shaped the highlands, and arrival in Nuwara Eliya’s colonial hill town atmosphere provides a complete change of pace from the Cultural Triangle’s ancient heat.

Day 06

Horton Plains & World's End at Dawn

An early start pays off spectacularly at Horton Plains – the montane plateau walk to World’s End, the sheer cliff edge where the highland drops 900 metres to the plains below, rewards those who arrive in the clear morning air before the daily cloud closes in. Baker’s Falls on the return circuit provides a beautiful midpoint pause. The afternoon in Nuwara Eliya is for recovery and the particular pleasure of being somewhere cool after days of tropical heat.

Day 07

Scenic Hill Train to Ella

Asia’s most celebrated hill country railway journey – a slow, open-window passage from the Nuwara Eliya plateau through a continuous landscape of tea estates, waterfalls, and mountain tunnels that makes the train itself the experience of the day. Arrival in Ella, with the Nine Arch Bridge and the highland village’s relaxed character immediately available, provides a perfect and satisfying conclusion.

Day 08

South Coast Drive & Coastal Arrival

The scenic drive from Ella’s highland setting down through the changing landscapes of the south to a beach destination of your choice – Mirissa, Weligama, Tangalle, or another preferred southern stop – delivers the coast in time for a late afternoon arrival with enough light left to walk the beach and sit with the Indian Ocean.

A day that belongs entirely to you – beach, optional whale watching from Mirissa (seasonal), snorkelling, swimming, or simply the uncomplicated pleasure of having a good book and a good view and nowhere you need to be.

Day 10

Colombo & Airport Departure

The Southern Expressway drive north to Colombo Airport, with the option of a brief Colombo stop for any remaining shopping, a final Sri Lankan coffee, or a last visit to somewhere in the capital you didn’t get to earlier.
